Bear Creek Oak Timber Frame Raising

Located on the St Vrain River in Lyons, Colorado, the Bear Creek home is constructed with large Oak timbers, designed to combine rustic charm with fine, sophisticated features. Oak is not only one of the strongest and most durable wood species, it has rustic characteristics like prominent grain, small checks and visible knots, making this natural material the best choice for this home. To enhance the distressed appearance of the frame, Colorado Timberframe textured each individual timber on site with a hand hewn surface and draw knife corners. Similar architectural details such as reclaimed barnwood and local Lyons Redstone will tie together the overall sophisticated rustic look.

Don’t let this home’s rustic charm fool you, this home will utilize advanced modern building systems to achieve net-zero energy. With solar PV, geothermal heating and cooling, SIP insulation and high performing windows, the Bear Creek home will produce more energy than it consumes.
